This innovative program, the first of its kind in Minnesota, aims to sell carbon offsets generated by trees that are added to the urban tree canopy in Minneapolis.
Hennepin County
Green Cities Accord and Hennepin County registered our first urban tree planting project in partnership in 2023. The project includes trees that were planted from 2020 – 2022 in the public right-of-way along County streets as well as on County facility land or tax forfeited land where the County has the authority to plant and maintain trees.
City of St. Paul
The City of St. Paul partnered with Green Cities Accord to establish an urban tree carbon project that registered trees planted from 2021-2023. Proceeds from the sale of carbon offsets from this project are reinvested in additional tree planting and maintenance performed by the City of St. Paul.
