Hennepin-Lyndale Crossroads

The Hennepin-Lyndale Crossroads is the nexus of some of the region’s most important institutions and civic spaces, and Green Cities Accord anchored the public-private partnership to transform the famous bottleneck into a green gateway to our city.

In 2018, Green Cities Accord coordinated the planting and maintenance of seven Hennepin-Lyndale Crossroads medians, with $15,000 in funding from a MnDOT Roadside Community Landscape Partnership grant, over $50,000 from the Lowry Hill and Loring Park neighborhood organizations and the $15,000 Minneapolis Community Innovation grant.

Until 2024, Green Cities Accord led the ongoing maintenance and coordination among stakeholders that turned an unkempt and vehicle-focused intersection into a natural oasis welcoming to pedestrians.
