Peavey Plaza

Peavey Plaza, a masterpiece of modernist design by M. Paul Friedberg, has long been a cornerstone of Minneapolis culture. In 2017, Green Cities Accord spearheaded the $12 million fundraising campaign to revitalize Peavey Plaza, with contributions from the City of Minneapolis, State of Minnesota and many private donors, demonstrating the power of a true public-private partnership.

Under the stewardship of Coen+Partners, the revitalization project honors Peavey Plaza’s historic significance while integrating sustainable features and ensuring accessibility for all. Green Cities Accord operated and maintained the Plaza through December 2023, hosting a multitude of free performing arts events and activities enjoyed by thousands of visitors, before services were transitioned to the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District (MplsDID),

Peavey Plaza continues to be a vital community asset and remains a symbol of collaboration and community spirit. For those interested in experiencing or hosting events at this iconic space, the MplsDID offers guidance through its website, inviting all to be a part of Peavey Plaza’s enduring legacy.
