Green Cities Accord Announces New Executive Director and Board Chair
Following its December annual meeting, the Board of Directors of Green Cities Accord announced leadership transitions that reflect the organization’s continued growth and position it to expand its impact in advancing urban climate resilience.
The Board is pleased to announce the promotion of Michaela Neu to Executive Director, effective January 1, 2026. Michaela joined Green Cities Accord in 2022 and most recently served as Director of Programs & Operations. During her four years with the organization, she has played a pivotal role in shaping Green Cities Accord’s mission and advancing strategies that expand and protect urban tree canopy across the Twin Cities.
Michaela brings more than a decade of experience advancing urban environmental initiatives and has been instrumental in translating vision into measurable impact. Over the course of her career, she has developed extensive expertise in urban forestry, watershed management, and climate resilience, while leading collaborative efforts that turn strategy into action.
Outgoing Board Chair David Wilson shared, “Michaela is ideally positioned to lead Green Cities Accord. In addition to her extensive environmental work experience, Michaela brings the passion and commitment needed to fulfill Green Cities Accord’s vision of mitigating climate change impacts and environmental inequities by leveraging the benefits of urban trees to enhance people’s health and well-being.”
The Board also announced a transition in its own leadership. Andy Warczak has been elected Board Chair, succeeding David Wilson, founder of Green Cities Accord and Board Chair since 2014. Andy is a Managing Director at Harris Williams and a dedicated advocate for urban forestry. He has been recognized by the City of Edina as a Hometown Hero for his ongoing work donating trees to local parks since 2015. Andy joined the Green Cities Accord Board in 2020 and has served as Vice Chair since 2024.
Green Cities Accord thanks David Wilson for his visionary leadership and years of service, and looks forward to continued momentum under Michaela Neu’s executive leadership and Andy Warczak’s stewardship as Board Chair.
